Tick Tock

6 days, people! Think I should start packing?

I've been so blessed to have such wonderful and thoughtful people who've gone before me and taken pics of Lucy and brought her goodies for me. I'm so happy to be able to do the same for some moms I've met whose kids are in the nursery with Lucy. While I won't be able to take photos due to the new rules there, I will hopefully be able to hand deliver the packages to Sarah and Jaden and make sure sweet Gracyn is sent hers to her foster home.

If anyone else has a child at SLC, let me know. I'll do my best to look in and give extra hugs and cuddles and tell him/her that Mommy and Daddy will soon be on their way.

And Sarah, I'm going to peek into that infant room and see if I can find a little one with your name... she's just GOT to be coming soon!

One Week Away!

Until now... I wouldn't even allow myself to think too much about my trip to Taiwan. It's so overwhelming, when I think of the moment I meet the little girl, for whom I've waited what feels like forever, I am overcome with excitement, emotion, and fear. I know I won't be able to take her home but spending a few days with her will be one of the three most memorable days of my life.

I told Jeff the other day, "the boys and I bonded when I carried them and we'll always have that special time. Now I can say I had a similar time with Lucy when she hears I flew halfway around the world just to see her and hold her, even though it was only for a few days."

So for those of you who asked me about the trip and I said "talk to me next week," you're the same people who will have to pick my sobbing self off the floor when I think about it this week. So put your rainboots and slicker on and come along for the ride.

Game on.

PS How cute is this? My niece Monica made this for her littlest cousin. I love how excited Lucy's cousins are to meet her and I can't wait to head back east this summer. Thanks Monica!

Madonna's Just Like Us?

Of course she's not. In fact, I haven't been a fan of hers since the days of rubber bracelets in the 80s. But when she said this on the Today Show yesterday in response to whether adopting is a "fad" for her... it was the first time she'd ever done anything to make me want to get up and applaud.

"I don't see how anybody who really understands how complicated it is to adopt a child could say that someone chose to do that as a fad."

The interview was actually quite good and she captured the angst and helpless feeling adopting parents can sometimes feel.

Shameless Plug

Parenting is expensive. It's the little secret no one tells you when you dream about a house full of kids. We do whatever it takes to afford the preschool, trips to see family, clothes for growing rugrats—nevermind the cost of international adoption—yikes!

I'm lucky that along with bringing home the bacon—well helping bring home a slice or two while Jeff brings home the rest of the package—I get to do what I love, which is write. So to combine the craziness of motherhood with writing is the ultimate gig...enter momlogic!

This past week has been insane with the launch of some cool new features and pages on the momlogic site. If you haven't been there—go! If you have, check it out again... I think it will be easier to navigate and simple to find what you want. Do you have a baby? toddler? preschooler? big kid? tween? teen? 18+? You get the idea...there's something for every mom...even those pregnant and trying to conceive (and as many adoption articles I can possibly fit in). Plus fashion, beauty, entertainment, giving back, and a whole lot more.

Phew... the point is, I'm working hard but know that this is nothing compared to the exhaustion of my soon-to-be three kids under 4.

I now return you to your previously scheduled program.

Not Wordless Afterall...

Look what I just got! The many faces of our baby girl. I love the one where she's faking a smile. Hilarious. And check out the last one—I dare you not to smile along with her.

OK, Almost Wordless Wednesday

I just had to add...this is what Jeff saw through the rear view window as he was driving the kids home from school today. Got to love camera phones.
